Lyntharsis

/ lɪn-thɑːr-sɪs / • noun

  1. The intentional process of purging internal chaos and mapping the subconscious mind through bold, aggressive, and highly textured physical media.

  2. The exact intersection where medical science, raw emotion, and physical space collide to force a mental breakthrough.

  3. A state of spatial healing achieved when a physical environment is deliberately structured to quiet the noise of conscious reality.

Origin: A proprietary, unapologetic synthesis of the artist’s identity (Allyne) and the ancient Greek clinical concept of catharsis (κάθαρσις—the process of releasing, and thereby healing from, intense repressed emotion).

Shemikah Allyne Colleton, NMD, MS

Founder + Principal + Fine Artist

“My body of work serves as an outward representation of my own metacognition; in other words, art is my therapy. Each piece represents a moment in time when I attempted to make sense of a fleeting emotion or accept a new reality. Every piece I create offers a sense of healing, no matter how small.”
— Allyne

Artist Profile

I don’t paint to decorate walls. I paint because I have to.

For me, art is a vital, unapologetic avenue for therapy. My work is the outward representation of my own mind trying to process the world—a physical record of the exact moments I tried to make sense of a fleeting emotion or accept a hard, new reality.

As a naturopathic medical doctor, my days are rooted in clinical science, human biology, and structure. But human beings are not just data; we are an overlapping storm of conscious realities and subconscious noise. The canvas is where I reconcile those two worlds. Every thick layer, sharp peak, and heavy texture I build is a tangible mapping of a mental breakthrough. I use a bright, aggressive color palette to push those internal thoughts into the light, because healing isn’t quiet or passive. It is active, bold, and loud.

THE VAULT

Lyntharsis is the result of a ten-year double life. For a decade, while navigating the intense, exhausting grid of medical training and clinical practice, I quietly returned to my studio every single night. I didn’t paint for market trends or gallery validation; I painted to survive the day, silently building an expansive master vault of original, large-scale abstract works.

Because of that ten-year incubation, the art of Lyntharsis is mature, raw, and completely uncompromised. These aren't flat paintings. They are heavy, sculptural topographies layered with premium acrylics, texturized gels, resins, and woven media. They are physical objects designed to be felt as much as they are seen.

THE SPACE

Today, Lyntharsis has evolved from a personal lifeline into a multidisciplinary design house. I took the lessons from my own healing and scaled them to fit the built environment, partnering directly with boutique hotel brokers, commercial interior architects, and luxury real estate stagers across the East Coast.

Whether it is a major public installation like our upcoming showcase at the Design Center East in Willimantic, CT, a high-traffic boutique hotel lobby, or a sleek corporate medical office, I approach every environment with the same philosophy: spaces dictate how we feel. By bringing monumental fine art, custom spatial layouts, and interior styling together under one house, Lyntharsis constructs physical sanctuaries designed to ground the mind.

Because at the end of the day, whether it’s in a hospital room or a luxury hotel, every environment should offer a sense of healing—no matter how small.
